Homeowners insurance
Protection for Where Life Happens
Your home is more than a roof over your head—it’s where life unfolds. Johannes Agency has been helping families protect their homes since 1992. We work with multiple carriers to find homeowners insurance that covers your property, belongings, and liability at a price that fits your budget.
Standard Homeowners Policy Coverage
Every home is different, but most homeowners insurance includes:
Dwelling coverage
Repair or rebuild your home if it’s damaged by fire, storms, or other covered events.
Liability protection
Coverage if someone is injured on your property or you’re held responsible for damage.
Additional living expenses
Help with temporary housing and costs if your home becomes unlivable due to a covered claim.
Personal property
Replace belongings such as furniture, electronics, and clothing.
Types of Homeowners Insurance Policies We Offer
Not all homes or living situations are the same. Here’s an overview of the most common homeowner policy forms and what they cover:
Home Insurance
Protection for your home, personal property, and liability in case of fire, theft, weather damage, or injury on your property. Policies can be customized for everything from single-family homes to rural residences.
Renters Insurance
Affordable coverage for tenants that protects personal belongings, liability, and temporary living expenses if your rental becomes uninhabitable. Even if you don’t own the building, your possessions and peace of mind are worth protecting.
Condo Insurance
Coverage designed for condominium owners that protects your individual unit, belongings, and interior features not covered by your association’s master policy. It also includes liability protection for incidents within your space.

-
What type of homeowners insurance is most common in Minnesota?
The HO3 Special Form is the most widely used policy for single-family homes in Minnesota. It provides broad “all risk” coverage for the structure and protects personal property against named perils like fire, theft, and storm damage.
-
Do I need flood insurance for my Minnesota home?
Standard homeowners policies do not cover floods. If you live near rivers, lakes, or low-lying areas common in West Central Minnesota, we recommend talking with one of our agents about adding separate flood insurance for full protection.
-
What’s the difference between HO3 and HO5 policies?
Both forms cover your home’s structure on an “open peril” basis, but HO5 policies also cover personal property under the same standard. That means your belongings are protected from a wider range of risks, not just those listed in the policy.
-
How do I know if I have enough coverage?
Coverage needs vary depending on your home’s age, construction, location, and valuables. Our team will review your property details, walk through replacement cost considerations, and help you choose a policy that ensures you’re properly protected without overpaying.
